Castlefort Junior Mixed and Infant School

Inspiring Bright Futures Together

Modern Foreign Languages

Our core languages are Spanish (Y1-2) and French (Y3-6), and are taught through an innovative programme designed by ‘Language Magnet’. The 'Language Magnet' scheme allows pupils to develop the four skill areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Pupils also have the opportunity to extend their enjoyment of language learning with the ‘Fun with French at Home’ series. The audio sheets use QR Codes (Quick Response Codes) to enable pupils to scan the sheet with a mobile device and hear the language at home that they have learned in the lesson. Pupils are taught through weekly lessons across the year (Y1-6). The children take part in regular vocabulary learning, listening activities and fun games or songs to further embed their learning in an engaging way!
